Pleasure House Point Natural Area Family Hike

Happy Earth Day! What better way to celebrate than getting outside?? Here is our review of our most recent family hike at Pleasure House Point Natural Area. If you’re in Virginia Beach and enjoy the water views, this is your hike!

Trail Conditions

Location: We entered the trail at 3957 Marlin Bay Drive. Parking was available on the street. There is another trail entrance a little farther down on Marlin Bay Drive.

Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2020, Time: 11 am, Weather: 70° and partially cloudy

The trail was mostly packed sand, with some dirt and some muddy spots. We walked 1.3 miles in 40 minutes. The path follows right along the edge of the Lynnhaven Bay.

Wildlife Spotted

We saw caterpillars, mallard ducks, a night heron, and other native birds. We even found tracks in the mud that probably belong to a raccoon.

Recommendations + Tips

I was really hoping to get a picture under the driftwood arch but it was gone. Next time we will park at the Brock Environmental Center and hop on the trail there. There’s a great spot at the center for a picnic lunch, too.
