Our Carolina Thanksgiving

Let it be known that after throwing up while driving to our big July family vacation, I told my husband we would not be traveling anymore while I was pregnant. We were going to spend the holidays laying low at our home in Virginia Beach, and are expecting family to visit us for Christmas before the birth of our third child in February. Somehow this hunk of a husband of mine convinced me to drive 8+ hours south to his aunt’s home in Bluffton, South Carolina (with two kids in tow) to spend Thanksgiving at their table. On the way down, we hit some traffic and the kids were (understandably) both complaining. Matt reminded them why we do family vacations like this, and it’s “because you are supposed to spend Thanksgiving with family.” It made my heart flutter even more to hear his dedication to family, and we made it Aunt Becky and Uncle Bob’s by 9:30 Wednesday night.

I’ve decided to cherish special family time like this by documenting our trips through video. Enjoy this snippet of our life, celebrating Thanksgiving with lots of family time, laughs, food, a little shopping, some football, music, nature walks, park visits, fish feeding, and a pontoon cruise to boot. We spent some time getting to know Uncle Bob’s daughter Melissa and son-in-law James better…and their dogs! Aunt Becky was a wonderful host and the few days we spent in South Carolina were definitely worth the trip!
